NEVERLAND

Its been fifteen hundred days and nights

Since last I saw her face

Some times I find myself

In an old familiar place

The room is fading black

Too dark for me to see

Then I hear a voice in the corner

Callin' out to me

No don't go back to Neverland

Where wishes don't come true

And nothin' ever happens there

The way you want it to

Well it's so hard to understand

Why things don't work out right

If you go back to Neverland

You'll kiss your dreams goodbye

A friend of mine she called me up

And cried into the phone

She met someone who touched her

In a way she's never known

Well she told me as her tears fell down

That it could never be

She'd made another promise

She felt she had to keep

Don't ever go to Neverland

Where wished don't come true

And nothin' ever happens there

The way you want it to

You'll sit down, you'll settle back

You'll miss the world go by

Step inside of Neverland

And kiss your dreams goodbye

I watch you struggle

You're havin' such a hard time

You've seen too much too soon

And it makes me wanna cry

I know you're tryin' baby

To find out where you fit

You're smart, you're cool

You're nobody's fool

So baby don't worry bout it

Just stay away from Neverland

Where wishes don't come true

And nothin' ever happens there

The way you want it to

Well I've been in and out that door

At least a thousand times

Baby please don't go to Neverland

You'll kiss your dreams goodbye

You'll kiss your dreams goodbye

LONG WAY DOWN (I LIKED FALLING)

First thing I saw when I met you were your eyes

Took my breath away

Didn't know then that you would lay by my side

Dropped a heartbeat anyway

It was a long way down

But I liked fallin'

It was a long way down

But I liked fallin'

Took a little while for me to get up the nerve

But I finally caught those eyes

Took a little while longer for our hearts to swerve

And crash into each other's lives

It was a long way down

But I liked fallin'

It was a long way down

But I liked fallin'

I don't know what happened

I can barely remember my name

Suddenly you were gone

Baby you're gone

It's late and I'm dreading walkin' into my room

Cause I'll notice you're not there

Been keeping' myself busy writing this tune

Bout a perfect love affair

It was a long way down

But I liked fallin'

It was a long way down

But I liked fallin'

CRY TO YOU

It's cold here in Seattle

It even snowed last night

I'm waiting at the airport

To board my homebound flight

Well I drove down from Vancouver

With the pedal to the floor

I was bleary-eyed and achin'

From the gig the night before

As we climb above the clouds now

The mountains pierce the sky

And the sun reflects on the water

And I feel like I could cry

I remember all my lonely years

Like they're tattooed on my skin

So when late tonight I hold you

I won't let go again

I can cry to you and you hold me

I can cry to you and you care

I can slip into this well of tears

That lives so deep inside

I can cry to you tonight

I've always been a wanderer

With a wild and restless soul

But lately it's been harder

To turn away and go

I suppose I'm getting older

And the road don't ring so true

But before, I was leavin' nothin'

And now I'm leaving' you

As we climb above the clouds now

The mountains pierce the sky

The sun reflects on the water

And I feel like I could cry

I remember all my lonely years

Like they're tattooed on my skin

So when late tonight I hold you

I won't let go again

Never in my wildest dreams

Did I ever picture what now seems to be true love

You run the demons from my head

Now I have risen from the dead-it's true love

My true love

I can cry to you and you hold me

I can cry to you and you care

I can slip into this well of tears

That lives so deep inside

I can cry to you tonight...

HAMMER & NAILS

Better build your house on a rock

Or watch it crumble and fail

Better build your love

With hammer and nails

I can see it in the darkness

As if it was broad daylight

Feel it way down in my soul

When I hold you tight

Well it takes much more than passion

For love to prevail

Gotta raise it up with hammer and nails

Hammer and nails

We're gonna build this love

with faith and hope

Flesh and blood

We'll lay that firm foundation down

To the last detail

Gonna build our love with hammer and nails

We'll build one room for laughter

We'll build one room for tears

This ain't no game, no house of cards

Gonna take us years

A vow that's only spoken

Comes to no avail

Put 'em in your hands

Hammer and nails

Hammer and nails

We're gonna build this love

with faith and hope

Flesh and blood

Lay it out so straight and true

To the last detail

Gonna build our love with hammer and nails

Hammer and nails

We're gonna build this love

with faith and hope

Flesh and blood

We've both seen it strong enough

We've both seen it fail

Gonna build our love with hammer and nails ...

THE RIGHT KIND OF GOODBYE

I had a thought the other day

As I packed some of your things away

We never had the chance to say

The right kind of goodbye

Now that a little time's gone by

Even though I still may cry

I think we really need to try

To say the right kind of goodbye

So come on baby

Throw your arms around me now

Squeeze me hard till I can't breathe

Come on baby

Kiss my cheek a hundred times

You know how to leave me laughing

Leave me laughing

I know you picked your time to go

For reasons only you can know

Now I can let my sadness go

With the right kind of goodbye

So come on baby

Throw your arms around me now

Squeeze me hard till I can't breathe

Come on baby

Kiss my cheek a hundred times

You now how to leave me laughing

Leave me laughing

I wish I may I wish I might

Have you here with me tonight

So in my dreams baby you and I

Will say the right kind of goodbye

SEND ME AN ANGEL

Send me an angel

As fast as you can

I been runnin' down this dead end street

And crawlin' back again

I know I'm in trouble

Cause I can't see no light

Someone told me if I talk to you

You might help me out tonight

If I let go

Will I fall apart

Can you save this heart

Or have I gone too far

If I surrender

Will I cry tonight

You know I could die tonight

But maybe I'll fly tonight

Send me an angel

Before it's too late

I gotta pocket full of alibis

And fire in my veins

And I'm stuck inside this head of mine

With no place left to go

If you send me that angel

Maybe he can take me home

Cause if I let go

I know I'm gonna fall apart

Can you save this heart

Or have I gone too far

If I surrender

Will I cry tonight

You know I could die tonight

But maybe I'll fly tonight

Send me an angel

If I let go

Tell me will I fall apart

Can you save this heart

Or have I gone too far

If I surrender

Will I cry tonight

You know I could die tonight

But maybe I'll fly tonight

Send me an angel

Send me an angel

DRIVIN' MY HEART AROUND

White lines on blacktop

Racin' with the raindrops

Cryin' with the wipers in 4/4 time

All I know is left back

Scattered in the tire tracks

I turned the wrong way to paradise

Didn't see the stop sign

Runnin' all the red lights

Straight through my tears

Lost in the night

Drivin' my heart around

Desperados on the run

How many times will I rise from the ashes

For one precious moment with you

Not this time baby

I won't sleep tonight

If I could just make it out of town

I might just turn this thing around

Hit the highway fast and clear my head

It's a cruel joke baby

When you can't have what you love

One sweet taste could be the death of me yet

Are you devil or angel

I swear I can't tell

I want you so bad

Into the night

Drivin' my heart around

Desperados on the run

How many times will I rise from the ashes

For one precious moment with you

Please not this time

I won't sleep tonight

I always thought of myself as the strong one

I would always come out on top in the long run

But now the rain stopped and I hear you calling my name

So baby pull down the shade

I'm driving', drivin' my heart around

Drivin' out of my mind

How many times will I rise from the ashes

For one blessed moment with you

Oh one more time

I won't sleep no I won't sleep

I'm drivin' ...

BABY I WANT YOUR LOVE

You got somethin' I want

You got somethin' I want

You got somethin' I want

Baby I want your love

You gave me one look

You gave me one look

You gave me one look

Baby I want your love

I got somethin' you need

I got somethin' you need

I got somethin' you need

Baby you need my love

I know you got a big house

I know you got a very nice car

I know you live a good life

But baby I want your love

Oh Yeah Well

Baby I want your love

Oh Yeah Well

Baby I want your love

Well, I could buy you a new house

And I could by you some brand new clothes

And I could give you a golden ring

Cause baby I want your love

But I wanna give you my arms

And I wanna give you my legs

And I wanna give you my mouth

Cause baby I want your love

Oh Yeah Well

Baby I want your love

Oh Yeah Well

Baby I want your love

I feel your breath upon my shoulder

I feel your lips against my own

Forget what anybody's told ya

I want your love I want your love

I want your love

I'm gonna give you...

I'm gonna give you...

I'm gonna give you...

Baby I want your love

You got somethin' I want

You got somethin' I want

You got somethin' I want

Baby I want your love

GRAVITY AND GRACE

Gravity and grace are two close friends of mine

But it's hard to get 'em in the same room at the very same time

Gravity's so grumpy, he brings everybody down

My friend Grace, on the other hand, she's the sweetest girl in town

Gravity I battle with and he always makes me cry

I can't seem to win a fight no matter how I try

Grace looks through the window, waiting for a sign

When I've had enough of Gravity, she will find her way inside

But I have my suspicions that I've harbored for awhile

When they pass each other in my life, I swear I see them smile

Yes, I have my suspicions that they're not so far apart

I think they have some secret covenant in matters of the heart

Grace I don't see often so I'm grateful for her time

She has a way of soothing me that makes me feel just fine

But a funny thing always happens-I forget her when she's gone

And I let Gravity hang out with me and he stays for way too long

I have my suspicions that I've harbored for awhile

When they pass each other in my life, I swear I see them smile

Yes, I have my suspicions that they're not so far apart

Maybe they have some secret covenant in matters of the heart

I think they have some secret covenant in matters of the heart

SENSIBLE SHOES

Way back when I was a little kid

I never did what the other kids did

They used to call me trouble

But I was just doin' my thing

People kept sayin' it would do me good

To step back in line when they thought I should

But I ain't no puppet with somebody jerkin' my strings

I'm not rational

Can't be practical

I like to walk any way that I choose

I've don't wanna put my feet on the ground

And I don't wanna walk  in no sensible shoes

Now that I'm older not much has changed

I make my own rules and I don't play no games

I don't follow fashion-I like buckin' the trend

Everybody thought I'd have to see the light

But hey look at me-I'm doin' all right

These shoes must be workin' cause

I just got lucky again

I'm not rational

Can't be practical

I like to walk any way that I choose

I've never had my feet on the ground

And I've never walked in no sensible shoes

Take off your sneakers baby

Slip on somethin' with heels

How bout some snakeskin boots or somethin'

Just to see how it feels

I'm not rational

Can't be practical

I like to walk any way that I choose

I've don't wanna put my feet on the ground

And I don't wanna walk  in no sensible shoes

ONE SINGLE MOMENT

Moonlight and madness

Dragons and dust

Somehow the sun follows rain

Life's sure a mystery

Baffling at best

Most things I can't explain

No one again would hold me

Of this I felt so sure

It had been so long

I didn't know if I could feel anymore

So there in a moment

One flash of time

You turned your eyes to me

One single moment

There in the night

I felt my heart break free

I saw it all so clearly

Oh what I was meant to do

Fate just had me waiting

For the moment when I found you

So here in this moment

Precious and fine

I give my love to you

I see it all so clearly

As the shadows fade away

I need no food or water

Just hold me in your sweet embrace

One single moment

Forever in time

I give my love to you
